Got this toy for my son's 6th birthday, and while it is fun, it doesn't have more than 10 interesting pieces. Most of the 48 are the single cylinders for height. You get 2 wheels, 2 swirly drains, a staircase, and 5 ramps. And then a LOT of pieces that are just for support. I exchanged it for the Original Marble Run- that one is the same price and has a greater number of interesting parts. Plus, more pieces overall!

A great educational vehicle and a fascinating toy. You can put together/arrange a marble maze in an infinite variety of permutations. We purchased two which added to the run length/time contiuum and variety.But one set is plenty to get your children thinking progressively and tangentally.Various durable plastic fit together modules allow for whirlpoll/staircase/wheel-spin/drop/switch-back effect.This set is made of colored clear plasic which we found more visually stimulating than the opaque sets. There the marbles get visually lost between the open modules. A SET consists of 48 pieces + 16 silver plastic marbles. And when all 16 are in the running it makes for so crazy fun! Very durable -- nothing has broken in months.Made for ages 4 up. . . . . At first our 5 year old found this puzzel/game interesting and challenging. But grew bored of it withing a few weeks.On the other hand our 2 ; 3 year olds have found it mesmering for months. Yet the inherent problem being that the marbles are standard-sized marbles. Therefore dangerous and inappropriate for that age category. A choking hazard and needing parental supervision.The only marble run we found out there with safe-sized marbles/balls is 'Edushape Rollipop'. But that is more of an therapy toy.

Best Marble run out there! December 26, 2008

I love this toy. We recieved it in time for chistmas and me and my 4 year old have been playing with since. It is great fun to create new ways to make the marbles go and it even seems to be a stress reducer. I have a similar set in my preschool classroom and this one is far superior to the more expensive school ones. I will be order a second and possibly third one to expand our play opportunities.
